The Forgotten Women – AKYRA’s Charity of Choice for 2026! Making a real difference
At AKYRA Strategy & Development, we believe every business has a responsibility to give back to the community it operates within, particularly to those who are less fortunate or experiencing hardship.
That is why we are proud to announce The Forgotten Women as our charity of choice.
Women over the age of 55 are the fastest-growing homeless demographic in Australia. More than 40,000 Queensland women are currently doing it tough due to rising living costs, limited employment opportunities, little or no superannuation, and a severe lack of affordable housing.
Alarmingly, this number is forecast to double by 2036.
Often referred to as the “hidden homeless”, these women are less visible, sleeping in cars, couch surfing, or quietly trying to survive without secure shelter.
The Forgotten Women is a grassroots organisation dedicated to changing this reality. Their mission is simple but powerful: to provide safe, secure, and affordable housing that allows vulnerable women over 55 to age with dignity.
To support this vital work, AKYRA Strategy & Development will donate 1% of all invoicing from February through to November 2026 to The Forgotten Women.
We encourage other businesses to consider how they can play a role in supporting their community. Collective action, no matter the size can create meaningful change.
