15 Years Of Experience Supporting Employers Through Change
Fifteen years ago, Margaret Goody founded AKYRA with a simple belief… businesses perform at their best when their people do.
Since then, we’ve witnessed significant shifts in workplace relations, employment legislation, leadership expectations, workforce demographics and the way organisations attract, manage and retain talent.
What began as a passion for helping organisations navigate the complexities of people management has evolved into a respected HR and workplace relations consultancy supporting family-owned enterprises, private businesses and not-for-profit organisations across Australia.
Throughout that journey, our purpose has remained remarkably consistent… helping employers build workplaces where both people and business can succeed.
“When I look back on the past 15 years, it’s the people and partnerships that stand out most. We’ve shared challenges, celebrated successes and worked alongside clients as their businesses have evolved and grown. Being trusted to support organisations through significant people decisions is a privilege and one that I never take for granted.
I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and so very appreciative of everyone who has been part of the journey. As we look ahead, AKYRA’s commitment remains the same… helping clients create workplaces where people and businesses thrive. We are still learning, still evolving and still excited about what’s possible.” Margaret Goody, Founder & Managing Director
If there’s one thing we’ve learned during this time, it’s that there is rarely a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to people. Every organisation is different; which is why practical, tailored advice remains as important today as it was when AKYRA was founded.
We’ve seen the expectations placed on employers grow significantly. Businesses have navigated major workplace relations reforms, increasing compliance obligations, skills shortages, economic uncertainty, a global pandemic, changing workforce demographics, heightened focus on psychosocial health and safety, greater employee wellbeing expectations and rapid advances in technology.
The way people work, lead and engage with organisations continues to evolve; requiring employers to adapt more quickly than ever before.
Throughout these changes, AKYRA has worked alongside organisations to help them manage complexity, reduce risk and make informed people decisions with confidence.
One of the most significant shifts we’ve observed is the increasing complexity of balancing operational performance with employee engagement, compliance obligations, workplace culture, performance management, wellbeing initiatives and changing workforce expectations.
Business owners and leaders are being asked to manage more people-related challenges than ever before whilst remaining focused on running and growing their organisations.
Many organisations don’t have the need, budget or scale for a dedicated HR manager. Yet the people challenges they face are often just as complex as those experienced by larger organisations.
That’s where AKYRA fills an important gap.
For many clients, we’ve become the HR department when they don’t have one – providing practical advice, strategic guidance and responsive support across the entire employment lifecycle.
Whether navigating employee relations matters, managing performance concerns, responding to legislative changes, supporting leaders or planning for growth, we help organisations access experienced HR expertise exactly when they need it.
Over the years, we’ve supported clients through growth, restructures, workforce shortages, leadership transitions and periods of significant change, helping them build stronger workplaces and more capable leaders.
Importantly, effective HR is about more than managing issues as they arise.
It’s about building the foundations that help organisations attract, retain and engage great people while creating clarity, consistency and confidence for both leaders and employees.
It is these foundations that have shaped AKYRA’s vision of Creating Employers of Choice for the past 15 years.
For many organisations, becoming an Employer of Choice doesn’t start with sophisticated HR programs. It starts with getting the fundamentals right.
As the HR department when you don’t have one, we’ve helped countless organisations build positive workplace cultures, support their leaders, strengthen compliance and create workplaces where employees feel valued and engaged.
Creating Employers of Choice has never been about policies and procedures alone. It’s about helping organisations create environments where people feel valued, expectations are clear, leaders are supported and businesses are positioned for long-term success. When organisations invest in their people practices, they are better placed to attract talent, retain key employees, strengthen culture and achieve sustainable business outcomes.
Like any business reaching a significant milestone, we’ve continued to evolve.
We’ve expanded our capabilities, refined our services and embraced new ways of delivering value to our clients. Guided by our values of passion, integrity, pursuit of excellence, partnerships and innovation, we continually look for opportunities to improve what we do and how we do it.
Whether that’s developing new resources, refining our methodologies or leveraging emerging technologies and AI; our focus remains on delivering practical solutions that create meaningful outcomes for clients.
Fifteen years in business is never achieved alone.
To our clients, team, associates and professional partners… thank you for your trust, support and contribution to the AKYRA journey. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together and even more excited about what lies ahead.
The HR and workplace relations environment continues to evolve at a pace few could have predicted. Legislative complexity continues to grow, compliance obligations are increasing, workforce demographics are shifting and employers are balancing heightened psychosocial risk responsibilities with changing employee expectations around flexibility, wellbeing and workplace culture.
Looking ahead, employers will face both new opportunities and new challenges.
The rise of artificial intelligence, increasing scrutiny of psychosocial risks, an ageing workforce, ongoing skills shortages, workforce flexibility and growing employee expectations around purpose, wellbeing and career development will continue to reshape the employment landscape.
Organisations will need to be increasingly agile, adaptable and people-focused to remain competitive and sustainable.
While the challenges facing employers will continue to change, one thing remains constant… people are at the heart of every organisation. HR is not simply an operational function; it is a strategic business imperative that helps organisations attract, retain and develop talent, manage risk, strengthen culture and drive organisational performance.
As we celebrate 15 years in business, our commitment remains clear…
helping employers confidently manage their people, meet their obligations and build workplaces that support long-term success.
Whatever the future brings, AKYRA will continue to be the trusted HR partner organisations turn to for practical, commercially focused advice… because while the world of work will continue to evolve, the need for expert people guidance will never disappear.
